"...what would become of the glaziers if panes of
glass were never broken?"
Frederic Bastiat, 1801-1850, was a proponent of free trade
in a protectionist era. This organization is a proponent of free choice
in an era of increasing land use regulation. Most land use regulations,
just as tariffs, raise prices for everybody, but benefit only a few. And
the few who benefit, just as with tariffs, are usually those who are in
the least need.
All the news on water that fits is
printed in "Beyond Chinatown" by Steven Erie. For a different
point of view see not beyond Chinatown

Good news: Anaheim deregulates land
use in its "Platinum Triangle". Unsurprisingly, private enterprise
redevelops it.
In a recent Urban Land there was
an interesting article. It seems that the difference between a denial of
entitlements and expropriation depends on whether the owner is a USA entity,
Canadian or Mexican. It has to do with NAFTA. More details Charles Warren

Current events and news
The Bastiat Institute for Land Economics would like to
welcome Ambrose Bierce as a fellow of the Institute. His achievements include
a concise definition of land. We also welcome his
contributions under his old byline The Tattler.
His latest contribution is on consideration.
His thoughts on water remain timely.
